In March of 2010, the University of Houston mens basketball team defeated the University of Texas El Paso mens basketball program in the Conference USA Championship Game to secure their first NCAA tournament birth since 1992.
The Cougars earned a 13th seed ranking. They will face former NCAA champions, University of Maryland Terrapins. The Terrapins are ranked 4th in their section of the NCAA bracket.
