Romantic Restaurants - Valentine's Day 2012

The best romantic restaurants in Houston

Whether it be for Valentine's Day or just because, visiting a romantic restaurant is never a bad way to spend an evening. For your perusal, here are the best romantic restaurants in Houston.

1. Mark’s Restaurant

Run by the acclaimed Chef Mark Cox's Montrose-area, Mark’s is a classy church-turned-restaurant. Expect things with names like “petite corn souffle crowned with caviar and fire-roasted corn.” Bring your wallet, because it’s pretty pricey.

2. Sambuca Jazz Café

A nice mix of Jazz and upscale new American cuisine, Sambuca Jazz Café is just the right amount of flash and quality. Give the crème brulee a chance; you won’t regret it.

909 Texas St
Houston, TX 77002

3. Strip House

This steak house could aptly be described as “sexy” and “sultry.” Lots of high class inhabitants and tender sirloins inside. Definitely one of the romantic restaurants in Houston you should try at least once.

Houston, TX, 77010

4. Tony’s

A long-time staple of Post Oak, this European-style dining moved over to Greenway and took all of the things that make it enjoyable along. To supplement their upscale décor and dining, they also have a quality wine selection.

6. Michelangelo’s

One of those classically romantic Italian restaurants, Michelangelo’s is a winner if you’re really looking to set the mood. No telling how many engagement proposals meals here have preceded.

7. Benjy’s

If you want to keep your dining experience a little more down to Earth, Benjy’s and their “modern American dining” is a solid pick, especially if you’re looking to supplement your meal with a martini. With that said, it still possesses just enough class to make it a romantic restaurant in Houston.

Houston, TX 77005

8. Ruggles Grill

This is another Jazz/restaurant amalgam. And not to take anything away from everything else they offer - good food, rich ambience, etc - but the desert selection is the reason I’ve been here more than once.

903 Westheimer Rd
Houston, TX 77006

9. 17 at Alden Hotel

Alden Hotels have a reputation for being upscale, which is why you shouldn’t be surprised to find out that their new(ish) restaurant, 17, is a standout for romantic dining (American cuisine).
