Guide Review - Houston Restaurants - Plonk!

Owned by former Pappas’ Steak house wine director, Scott Miller, Plonk! achieves what it sets out to do by being the neighborhood bar for Oak Forest. It is in fact, an excellent option for anyone looking to relax and enjoy a nice glass of wine or an ice-cold beer.

See the profile of The Heights

But, this is not an icehouse. You won’t find Golden-Tee or a pool table here. Conversation and shared company are the activities of choice at Plonk! Light music and mild (not dark) lighting add to the mood.

The menu is a work in progress. The kitchen is fully-operational but not always open. Miller, along with Chef Michelle Salek, will grown the menu at a pace that exemplifies progress rather than satisfies demand. For now, food is offered on select evenings. Joining the email list is the only way to get “in the know.”

In the end, Plonk! is a quiet, refined wine and beer bar that caters to the knowledgeable and upscale residents growing the neighborhoods North of I-10.
