Fred Lutz - Bio

By , About.com Guide

Fred Lutz has spent the last 25 years in the Houston restaurant business, toiling as everything from busboy to General Manager. Fred has lived much of his life from the inside of the restaurant. Today, as a food writer, his goal is to help enhance the dining experience for his readers and to grow the relationship between Houstonians and the restaurants of Houston.

Experience:

Fred started, as so many do, in his family’s restaurants, Calico Kitchen and Train Beers Ice House and Grill. From there he moved on to Landry’s, Pappas’ Seafood House and Carrabba’s. He entered management at Houston’s and became GM at Piatto Ristorante. During his career he has worked with such Houston notables as Tilman Fertitta, Chris and Harris Pappas, John Marion and Johnny Carrabba, Rose Carrabba and Damian Mandola.

Today Fred publishes his own blog, Fred Eats Houston, and is a contributor to About.com and 29-95.com.

From Fred Lutz:

I am very fortunate to have had such an excellent career in restaurants. It has been my privilege to be a part of so many lives.

People do more than just eat at the tables in restaurants. They live there. They laugh and share and connect. The don’t just eat – they dine.

It is my desire to continue to be a part of that, and hopefully, help it grow.
