The Menil Collection: Considered one of the most important privately assembled collections of the twentieth century, The Menil Collection houses approximately 15,000 paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs and rare books.

John and Dominique de Menil : John and Dominique de Menil are the founders of the world-reknowned Menil Collection. Dominique was the heiress to the Houston based Schlumberger oil-drilling fortune, and John was an executive of the company. Schlumberger leads the oil and gas industry in research & development investment.
The Collection: The museum's collection includes the early to mid-twentieth century works of René Magritte, Max Ernst, Salvador Dalí, Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picaso among others.

The museum also maintains an extensive collection of pop art and contemporary art from such noted artists as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol and Cy Twombly.

Also included in the museum's permanent collection are antiquities and works of Byzantine, Medieval works and Tribal art.
The Menil Campus: Other buildings in The Menil Collection complex include the infamous Rothko Chapel, Byzantine Fresco Museum and the Cy Twonbly Gallery.

The Menil Collection museum hours are from Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Admission is free of charge and parking is located at 1515 West Alabama.
