George Ranch Historical Park

Houston's largest living history site, George Ranch Historical Park aims to educate Texans about their rich history by means of hands-on experiences and costumed interpretations. The George Ranch Historical Park consists of two original homes and two replica homes arranged in chronological order spanning one mile and over 100 years of Texas history. Visit the Jones Stock Farm of the 1830's to witness pioneer men tending to the garden or the animals and women weaving or preparing corn for supper. The Davis Mansion which also acts as a museum, includes the share cropper's farm, the blacksmith's shop and a cemetery. George Ranch Park is an outstanding destination for education-based school field trips as well as for casual adult tours. Event space is available to rent and the facility includes a rodeo arena, an open-air pavilion, dance hall, a restored chapel and acres of open space.

The Woodlands Town Center

The Woodlands Town Center is a 1,000-acre suburban "downtown" located in North Houston. The complex consists of 6,000,000 square feet of retail and commercial businesses, a 1.25-mile waterway, the Woodlands Mall and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The center attracts over 20 million visitors each year. Explore the center by way of water taxi or trolley. Visit a variety of retail establishments including Anthropologie, Sur la Table and Bailey, Banks and Biddle. Dining options include Grotto, Fleming's Steakhouse and Berryhill. During summer months, visit the new Rob Fleming Aquatic Center featuring a 500-ft lazy river, a two-story tube slide and an interactive play structure for the little ones. Sam Houston Race Park

Located just 15 miles from Downtown Houston, Sam Houston Race Park is the city's first Class 1 racetrack. The facility offers several dining and entertainment amenities including The Winner's Circle Restaurant, the Jockey Club and 19 luxury suites overlooking the track. Recently added is The Showgrounds, an all ages venue hosting annual Rock, Country and Adult Contemporary performances and festivals. Live shows are scheduled every weekend from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Winner's Circle seats over 800 guests and serves classic American cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Both buffet and a la carte menu options are available. The establishment offers a spectacular view of the finish line and once your seat is purchased, it belongs to you for the entire night so you are free to enjoy the venue. The Jockey club is the park's private members-only club. Benefits include simulcast televisions, gourmet entrees and personal wagering tellers and machines. Annual membership begins at $1,600.
