Overview:
Houston Summer Fest is the annual summer music festival put on by Free Press Houston, an independent newspaper published once monthly. (FPH was also responsible for putting on the now defunct Westheimer Block Party.)
Last year's Free Press Summer Fest was actually the third installment. This year, more than 50 national and local bands will be performing on three separate stages over the course of the two days. There will be artist booths, a craft beer garden, and free water. In 2012, more than 20,000 people were expected to attend. In 2013, the number is higher.
Admirably, FPH has made a clear effort to incorporate "green" principles into their festival. There will be "a recycling program, carbon off-set credits, and a partnership with the Texas Campaign for the Environment."
