Real Texas Barbeque: If you're looking for the taste of Texas (for non-Texans, that means BBQ, and for non-Southerners, BBQ means barbeque), look no further and head to Luling City Market for what some Houstonians consider the best barbeque in the city.
The restaurant was founded in 1981 in Houston as an attempt to bring the distinct Central Texas barbeque style to the city. The original Luling City Meat Market is actually located in Luling, Texas about an hour south of Austin.

Tender & Juicy BBQ: The cooks at Luling smoke their meat over Post Oak wood in specially designed pits. No gas whatsoever is used for cooking the BBQ which means all of the smoke flavor is 100% Texas genuine. They also make homemade 100% all-beef sausage using the same recipe for over 20 years.
Sauce to Die For: You have not lived until you've tried Luling's extraordinary BBQ sauce. From the moment it hits your lips you'll become hooked. It's a tangy mustard based sauce has been one of their most popular items that can be shipped all over the globe. Houstonians use it on everything from meat, eggs and seafood to just plain old crackers.
Luling also makes delicious cole slaw, potato salad and pinto beans along with individual pecan pies and Texas size brownies for your sweet-tooth after indulging yourself on ribs, smoked chicken, soft brisket and beef sausage (and don't forget the white bread!)

How to Do Barbeque: Once inside this quaint BBQ joint, you'll notice that it "ain't no fancy shindig". You walk up to the line, tell the cook what you'd like to eat (the menu is located on the wall behind the chefs) and they cut the meat right in front of you. They place the barbeque on pieces of butcher paper (which exudes central-Texas BBQ style) and serves you slices of Ms. Baird's white bread to go along with it. No plates, just butcher paper, a real Texas classic.
Come Cowboys and Businessmen Alike: On any given day, you'll see good 'ol boys, members of congress, the well-to-do and ordinary Joe's hanging out at the bar enjoying the smoky BBQ smell of Luling. You'll also catch me here at least once a week to get my BBQ fix. As a native Texan, its in my blood.
