Happy Independence Day, Houston. Sleep in, lounge by a pool, fire up the grill and make your way to one of the many 4th of July festivals going on in the city today. The largest (and most centrally-located) event is Freedom Over Texas near Downtown Houston. Expect live music, a designated kid zone, a Beer Garden and a fireworks display at sundown.
If you're in The Woodlands area, visit the Red, Hot and Blue festival held at Town Green Park and Waterway Square. Street performers will line the festival path and the free event will wrap up with a brilliant fireworks display simulcasted on Sunny 99.1
