What does ACORN mean?
Not too long ago, I got a ton of emails re ACORN. I dismissed them, mostly because I didn't know what ACORN meant nor if it had anything to do with Houston. I literally said, "What does ACORN mean?" at least twelve times last week.
I ended up checking it out a bit over these last few days and learned that (a) ACORN is a community activist group that provides free housing counseling to low to moderate income homebuyers, (b) they were recently burned big time when a video showed some of their employees instructing a "pimp" and a "prostitute" on some less than legal ways to handle a money dilemma, and (c) they, in fact, do have offices in Houston.
ACORN has been on a PR clean-up campaign as of late following the videos, and some Houston officials have been looking into actions of the ACORN offices in Houston. (Here's a story the Chronicle ran about the situation.)
So how do you all feel about this? Does it just blow your mind that (it appears) money has corrupted a company meant to do well, or is just old hat now (like an athlete getting arrested)? Sound off.

Yes, I was surprised to see that money had corrupted a company. I was also surprised to hear that fire was hot and night was dark, so go figure.
So, will Barack be reprising his role as ACORN defense lawyer?

“I’ve been fighting alongside of ACORN on issues you care about my entire career [including child "services", financial "services", and "voter" registration?] Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote in Illinois, Acorn was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work.” –Obama, 2007
