Say what you will about lawyers, (old joke: What do you call 50 lawyers with their mouths duct taped shut? A good start.) but the Houston Bar Association has stepped up kindly as of late.
Per the Chronicle, the HBA will be offering free tax-related advice this evening in addition to hosting two legal advice clinics this weekend.
When, where, and how?
From the Chronicle:
The "Tax-A-Thon," staffed by the HBA's Volunteer Lawyers Program, will be offered from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.Anyone with tax-related questions can call 713-759-1133 to get advice on tax issues and additional sources where they can find more information.
The clinics for veterans will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8790, at 1560 Foley, and at American Legion Post 560, at 3720 Alba.
The sessions will be open to any veteran living in Harris County, and to the spouses of deceased veterans in the county. No appointments are needed.
