Welcome To About's New Houston Site

Sunday December 7, 2008
Dear Close Personal Friends,

Hey, how are you? This is Shea Serrano, your new Houston guide from About. In the likely event that you didn't read my bio, I'm currently a freelance journalist living in Houston. In addition to About, I've written for the Houston Press, Houston Magazine, SLAM Magazine, Village Voice, Filter Magazine, URB Magazine, Dallas Observer, Texas Observer, and a few other places. I can also run really, really fast, but that hardly seems relevant here.

There'll be a bunch of new content going up soon, including December's Event Calendar, a new Walking Tour of a local neighborhood, another Slideshow Challenge, and a few more reviews. There'll also be updates made to the blog daily, most notably including an alternate activity for you to do that day that isn't listed on the Events Calendar.

In the meantime, feel free to poke around and comment on any poorly made jokes and halfway thought out opinions. Thanks. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Shea

Shea, I was disappointed by the photographic review of Domy. The pictures were low quality, and poorly shot. The written captions were not funny, or smart. I hope you can do a better job next time to support Houston’s alternative side, rather than making half-witted comments that saddle the line of mockery. Poor job. I know you won’t let Houston down next time. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the comment, Joe. It hurt my feelings, but thanks anyway.

If you’d like to give it a shot, I’d be glad to offer you the opportunity to take on the daunting task of Slideshow Challenge. I’m currently setting up my official About email, in the meantime, you can shoot your info to me at my personal email if you’re interested.
